All About Donna Mills' Daughter, Chloe Mills

When actress Donna Mills decided it was time to become a mother, she didn’t let preconceived notions about age stand in her way. She was 54 years old when she welcomed her daughter, Chloe Mills, through adoption, and then decided to take an extended hiatus from acting in order to raise her.

"I was very concentrated on my career, but at a certain point, I realized there was something missing — it was a child," she told PEOPLE in 2022. "So I went after it. By that time, I was 54 and people said, 'You're going to be so old [to] have a little toddler running around.' I never felt that. I never felt older than the other mothers who were probably in their 20s."

Today, the mom and daughter duo are very close; Chloe even accompanies her mom to premieres, and the two are in close communication on a daily basis. "We see each other at least once a week and we talk every day or text," Donna shared.

For the Knots Landing star, motherhood has been a complete joy.

“Being a mother gives you a depth of feeling you didn’t know existed until you hold that baby in your arms. And now I feel it every time I see her, every time we hug and laugh and do silly stuff together,” Donna wrote in an Instagram post dedicated to Chloe on Mother’s Day 2023. "As she said to me when she was two years old, ‘Mommy, our heartstrings are tied together.’ They are my darling girl and they always will be.”

Here’s everything to know about Chloe Mills, daughter of actress Donna Mills.

Chloe Nicole Mills was born on Sept. 12, 1994, and was adopted by Donna when she was just 4 days old.

“You are the light of my life. I am so proud of the woman you’ve become,” Donna wrote on Instagram on Chloe’s 29th birthday, sharing an adorable photo of herself with Chloe as a little girl. “I wish you every happiness the world has to offer and a life filled with joy and laughter.”

Donna said that accomplishing her career goals before adopting Chloe made her a better mother.

“I’d done things that I wanted to do. I knew I had a lot to give a child and I wanted to do it,” she said on The Tamron Hall Show. “I was jealous every time I saw a kid run up to its mom and go, ‘Mommy! Mommy!’ I knew my life wasn’t going to be complete until I had a child … the yearning grew bigger as I got older.”

According to the actress, despite her career and fame, she felt there was a “big hole” in her life — until she adopted Chloe.

“She filled everything that I needed. It’s funny because when I started the process of adopting, it was about nine months from the time I started the process to when I got her,” Donna recounted. “And I really feel that she was meant to be with me. She’s my daughter. I’m her mother.”

Donna then took a two-decade-long break from acting to raise her daughter. "I took off 18 years. I didn't work," explained of her decision to step back from the spotlight.

While Mills did do a few TV movies in the first few years of Chloe’s life, when her daughter could easily accompany her to set, she cut down on work as Chloe approached school age.

"When she started school, I wasn't going to go out of town for two months at a time,” Donna explained. Her focus at the time was on her child, not her career. “I didn't become a mother to give her to a nanny."

She was incredibly involved as Chloe grew up, from attending games to making Halloween costumes. “Every activity I did she was there, every show I did, every tennis match … she was always there,” Chloe said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“I love being around people and making them happy,” Chloe told Entertainment Tonight of what drew her to the job.

The mother-daughter duo attended the U.K. premiere of Jordan Peele’s film NOPE together in 2022; Donna plays actress Bonnie Clayton in the horror movie. The actor looked chic in an all-white suit, while her statuesque daughter posed alongside her in an emerald green slip dress.

"A night I would never say NOPE to! Thank you London for the warm welcome and thank you to @jordanpeele for your incredible work and including me in your masterpiece @nopemovie…" Donna wrote on Instagram. "Oh [and to] my baby girl @chloenicolemills for being my date."

Chloe hasn’t seen an episode of Knots Landing, despite it being the show that catapulted her mother to stardom; in fact, she doesn’t love watching her mom at work.

“I think it’s weird to see Mom onscreen. It’s like, that’s my mom. Something’s off here,” Chloe told ET.

Chloe and her mom have matching heart tattoos on their wrists, though it didn't start with a serious suggestion.

“I said it as a joke,” Chloe explained to ET. However, her mom took it seriously and was ready for some mother-daughter ink. “She’s like, ‘okay!’ "

There was a little trepidation from the actress at first, but after seeing Chloe make it through the appointment without fainting, Donna got one too.
